With easy access to the Lakeshore East Line and around 10 bus lines, commuting is made convenient for residents. It is also within walking distance to primary schools, daycares, over 40 grocery stores, and more than 200 restaurants and coffee shops. Housing options consist mainly of single detached homes, large apartment buildings, and townhouses, offering mainly three or four-plus bedroom options. With a majority of homeowners, the neighborhood offers a sense of stability and community. If you are looking for a peaceful and convenient place to call home, Whitby is an excellent choice.

The character of Whitby is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Whitby is very good for those who like quiet surroundings, as the streets are generally very peaceful.

About 40% of properties in Whitby were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this town, roughly 70% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 80% of the population of this town own their home whereas the rest are renters. This part of Durham Region is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.

Daycares and schools are easy to access as a pedestrian from most properties for sale in this part of the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area. In terms of eating, the nearest supermarket in Whitby is generally only a reasonably short distance away. Additionally, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of options, and there are also about 40 coffee shops in Whitby.

Driving is a very good transportation option in Whitby. It is easy to park. However, Whitby is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents benefit from the Durham College Oshawa and Whitby with access to the Lakeshore East. The town is connected by around 20 bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Bicycling is occasionally challenging in Whitby as there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and the cycling infrastructure is not particularly well-developed. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not very popular in this town, although many common errands can be run without a car.
